Make Things Different

It’s okay to get support to work through this stuff!
This is the end of one relationship and the

beginning of a new one –

your co-parenting relationship.

How can we help you

Co-Parenting for Your Kids is much more than just a mediation service. Making decisions about your children, your property and closing the book on a chapter of your life can be hard and there might be more to it than you think. We will work with you every step of the way.

  • Quality mediation by highly skilled and experienced mediators
  • Support before, during and after your mediation
  • Access to workshops and online training designed specifically to help you live with the agreements you reach at mediation
  • Help to figure out the important things and which issues to ‘let go’

We pride ourselves on providing you high quality,

affordable mediation, without upfront lump sum

payments or long wait times.

If it seems complicated, it’s really not…

We take the hard work out of inviting your child’s other parent to mediation – we point out all the reasons why it helps them – then they attend their intake meeting.

After that, we send you some dates to choose your mediation and that’s it! Mediation is booked and you’re on your way.

We know you have concerns, everyone does.

Maybe you’ve mediated before and paid out a pile of money for something that isn’t working anymore. If you’ve mediated with a Family Relationship Centre, you don’t want to wait like that again – you need change now.

What happens if the other parent won’t pay or if they refuse to attend? These are all things you can discuss at your intake meeting (book it here now), but of course, we have ALL the answers at the bottom of the page (skip there now) – because we like to make sure you have as much information as possible! 😀

We’re really great at what we do,

but don’t just take our word for it.

“My ex de-facto chose Kirsty and I held no expectations in respect of outcome.
I was aware Kirsty had gone through a separation and was co-parenting and I initially had some reservations that Kirsty may hold bias because of her own experiences and this would disadvantage me. However within minutes of sitting down with Kirsty this concern dissipated.
If you genuinely desire to resolve parenting matters, I have no hesitation in recommending Kirsty.”

“I was in a situation with my ex where we couldn’t agree on anything. Every communication was difficult.
With support from Kirsty I was able to totally change the situation to a point where we can reach agreement about everyday things as well as important issues.
We still have moments, but I now have the skills to facilitate our communication and I’m no longer anxious at the mere prospect of having to discuss something.”

Short(ish) Answers to ALL of your
BIG Questions!

Great Question! Put Simply, mediation is a process that supports families to have conversations about things they’re having trouble talking about. Your mediator is a neutral facilitator, guiding you through listing topics to discuss, exploring those topics, generating options to resolution, and formalising the agreements you reach.

Mediating with Co-Parenting for Your Kids is fast and cost effective. By far, the biggest benefit to choosing to mediate, is the future you’re creating for your children. It’s well documented that children suffer when they get caught in the middle of their parents arguments. When parents cannot agree about where kids live, or argue about uniforms and holiday’s and extracurricular activity, negative outcomes like risk taking behaviours, drug and alcohol consumption and promiscuity increase for kids.

Children start to feel insecure and doubt their value when their parents are focused on winning against each other over what their children are experiencing. Kirsty and her team of mediators will support you to focus on solutions to your problems and what is needed for your kids to do more than just live through your divorce.

If you like, we can prepare your agreements into the format accepted by the Family Court and show you how to file an Application for Consent Orders, making your agreements legally binding once they’re stamped by the Family Court.

Whether you’re separated but still living under the same roof, or you’ve been living separately for years and just never finalised everything legally, Kirsty and her team can support you to have the hard conversations about where your children live and what to do about the house, superannuation and credit card debt.

If you’re not spending as much time with your children as you and they would like, you don’t need to start that conversation with your ex. Kirsty and the team are experienced at inviting your childs’ other parent to participate in mediation so you don’t have to.

Having studied a Masters in Law (Dispute Resolution) and Family Law at University, Kirsty completed further study to become a nationally accredited Mediator and federally registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP). Four years ago, Kirsty also became a facilitator of the world renowned Circle of Security parenting program and recently upgraded her qualification as a Trainer and Assessor.

Some programs Kirsty has developed include the Court Approved Parenting Orders Program, Step Mum Survival workshop and Superstar Co-Parenting program. Kirsty is a highly skilled and experienced mediator as well as an expert in the field of co-parenting coaching.

Some mediators charge hourly rates. Family Relationship Centres (Relationships Australia, CentaCare, Uniting Care) offer free mediation but the wait time can be up to 6 months.

Co-Parenting for Your Kids pride themselves on being cost effective, with fixed fees, paid in installments. Other’s charge a lump sum up front fee. We want to make sure that families have access to cost effective, high quality mediation without having to wait months. You can start the mediation process for as little as $175 for a 90 minute intake meeting.

> > > click here to download our fee schedule < < <

You can pay the fee for both parties if you choose. We don’t have to disclose that you’re choosing to pay the full fee. If you are unable or unwilling to pay the full fee, you will be issued a s.60i certificate and can take the matter to court if you like.

We will point out to the other parent all the benefits to them, of participating in mediation. If they can’t be swayed by the reasons, sometimes they participate so they won’t have to go to Court. If they still refuse to participate in mediation, we will issue the s.60i certificate.

This is the certificate the Court need in order to accept your Initiating Application for matters regarding children. You don’t require a s.60i certificate to initiate on matters relating to property only.

Simplistically, the answer is yes. There are reasons stated in the Family Law Act (1975) that exclude some families, especially when there are family and domestic violence issues, but otherwise, all families must attempt mediation prior to initiating an application in the Family Court. A s.60i certificate will be issued once you have attended mediation or if either party fails to attend mediation.
